ITINERARY – ROAD TRIP, RUINS, FOUR CORNERS, CASINO, AND DINNER
HOVENWEEP, FOUR CORNERS MONUMENT, UTE CASINO, CORTEZ
Today you will see amazing ruins and finish with a great dinner, Mexican or Chinese!
You will want to start early if you choose to include FOUR CORNERS NATONAL MONUMENT in your day. Remember the sandwiches, root beer and snacks as you will be away from food concessions until dinner time.
From Blanding you will go south through White Mesa and turn left on Hwy 262. Follow the signs to Hovenweep as you continue through the reservation area. Turn left on Highway 413 which will take you to Hovenweep. Hovenweep includes a two mile walking path if you would like to see all of the ruins.
For FOUR CORNERS NATIONAL MONUMENT you will leave Hovenweep and travel South to Aneth, then East on Hwy 162 to Highway 160, then right about 5 miles to FOUR CORNERS.
FOUR CORNERS NATIONAL MONUMENT is the only place in the USA where 4 states come together at a single point. This is where you bend over and place one of your appendages in each state and someone takes your picture. You will find many shops and concessionaires with authentic made Native American crafts.
If you are going to UTE MOUNTAIN CASINO AND RESORT, when you get to Highway 160 you will turn left instead of right, or from Four Corners you would head East on Highway 160. UTE MOUNTAIN CASINO AND RESORT has a full array of games, foods, drinks and souvenirs. If you would like to continue on to Cortez, Colorado you will find many restaurants and a Walmart. Two restaurants we suggest are the OCEAN PEARL, an excellent Chinese restaurant, and TEQUILAS, an excellent Mexican restaurant.
From Cortez you will travel west on Highway 491 back to your lodging.
