To show off their automobiles, a group of Moab automotive enthusiasts decided to create a weekly "hang out" at a nearby restaurant. That group eventually agreed to form a vehicle club and possibly arrange and host their own public car show. "Moab Rod Benders" was their moniker.
The first car exhibition was held by the club. With almost 200 cars in attendance, it was a huge success. Year after year, the exhibition rose in size until it had somewhat more than 700 cars in attendance.
For 20 of the last 25 years, the Moab April Action Car Show (as it is currently known) has enjoyed excellent weather. It is one of Moab's most popular events, gathering up to 8,000 spectators (free entrance) and close to a thousand participants.
