Hovenweep National Monument

Hovenweep can be visited year round with options of hiking and camping. Hovenweep lets you visit six prehistoric villages. It is estimated that these villages were built between A.D. 1200 and 1300. This national Monument has a trail system that allows guest to view each of the archaeological sites. We recommend the hiking the Square Tower Group Loop. It's about a 2 mile hike that starts at the visitors center and lets you see a variety of the sites. Generally visitors stop for an hour or two but you can spend more time to see all of the sites. Parts of the trail system are paved. Make sure to take time to learn about the culture of the ancestral Puebloans and touch a little bit of history.
